A Mike Life: The Friday Question

Ditto, Mikey! That was a great trip. Plus, we celebrated my birthday on that trip... doesn't get much better than that!

My favorite vacation that I have gone on is to Cancun in Feb. It was nice to be waited on all the time and it was all-inclusive so anytime you wanted anything it was there.

On a side note I went over to your website and checked out several of your ads. Hope that helps your numbers.

My favorite thing to eat is also bratwurst with mayo. Whatever friend told you that is a genius. I think I would move him up on the best friend list for sure. The only problem is I rarely find myself taking the time to cook them.

Favorite vacation is tough...but probably Deb's and my trip to Italy (which was also our honeymoon). It was a great trip, but also filled with adventure. We encountered diverse places and people, we got ripped off by our cab driver when we arrived in Rome, we saw the Coliseum, the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel it was really amazing. We drank wine almost everyday, had mostly great Italian food (the cheaper the place the better the food and vice-versa...weird) we also found a great Irish pub (we seem to always find one no matter where we go). Rome was also very dirty and crowded, so we were more than ready to head north to Florence.

As much as Rome was busy, crowded and filled with unfriendly people, Florence was the polar opposite. Everyone and everything about Florence was beautiful and unforgettable. We explored the narrow street and shops, we walked along the Arno river and of course ate great food. We could go back and spend a month and love it.

After that we headed to Venice, which was also everything we could have hoped for...just beautiful....it even snowed one day. From St Marks to Hemingway's old haunts Venice was all we'd read it would be.

Makes me want to go back...:-)

Okay, so this is Saturday and I am always late ... but I am the mom-in-law, so I HAVE to respond to the Cape Cod thing (also the accolades about 5 best in the southwest ... I must say, I didn't even know we were living in the southwest anymore!) ... but what about the cold, the rain, the being stuck in our condo in Provincetown, the tip of the end of the world and having to water color with mom-in-law ... or do puzzles?

But of course you would have liked it and Jina, too ... you had the big room! See what being new to the family did for you!

Okay ... I have another comment. I could add alot of these, since everytime I think about it, I come up with another great trip. I remember when I was 10, I lived in Houghton, New York. My Dad desperately needed some time off and someone in the church let us use a house in the country somewhere in Pennsylvania, I think. It was snowy and we were pretty much stuck in the house, but that is where I learned to crochet and I loved it. And I loved looking out the window at all the snow (does anyone here know about Ideals magazines? They had alot of snowy pictures like the one in my mind). And it was fun being snowed in with my family.

Favorite vacation in the States: Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival, being on the field with balloons launching all around you, awesome Mexican food, day trip to Santa Fe, historic churches, Georgia O'Keefe museum, dinner at sunset at the top of the San Dias mountains.

Favorite vacation of all time: a quick European trip through London, Copenhagen, Sweden. Too many wonderful things to mention, however, the highlight of the trip was listening to a string quartet play a Mozart concerto by candlelight in the historic St. Martin-in-the-Fields cathedral.

You know, I think Shawn told me about that balloon festival...that would be a GREAT addition to my list of 101 things to do. Have always wanted to check that out.

When does it come around each year?
